EV Charger Installation in Salmon Arm

A home charger is not the pedestal you see in a parking lot. It is a dedicated circuit from your panel to a unit on the garage or the outside wall. The charger manual and the spare capacity in the panel decide the breaker size. Many Level 2 installs are a 40 or 50 amp circuit. Some houses cannot take that load until the service is larger.

What we need to know

  • The charger model, or that you have not bought one yet.
  • Where the car parks, and how far that is from the panel.
  • The main breaker size, if you can read it without opening the cover.
  • Other large loads: a hot tub, a suite, a shop, or a range on the same panel.

The cost table lists a typical range for the circuit. The charger itself is extra. A long run through a finished house, or apanel upgrade because the service is full, is priced on its own. This work generally needs a permit. Technical Safety BC oversees it, and we pull the permit when the job requires one.

A photo of the closed panel and a photo of the parking spot are enough to start the conversation. We confirm the price before we start.
